Criteria
This award is based on the applicant's character, leadership qualities, scholastic aptitude and a demonstrated commitment to juvenile justice.
Additional Mandatory Materials
Transcripts. The application must be accompanied by an official transcript and the student's class rank, if applicable. These materials are mandatory and your application will not be considered without them. 500 word essay. A 500 word essay describing the applicant's interest and commitment to the field of juvenile justice. Letters of recommendation. Two letters of recommendation from persons not related to the applicant. Resume. A current resume describing the applicant's work experience. Interview. An interview may be requested by the scholarship committee.
Submission & Deadline
The scholarship application and supporting documentation should be scanned and sent to CCJECA@gmail.com no later than April 15, 2025. Documents should be scanned as one pdf file and saved under the applicant's first and last name. Applicant packages can also be mailed to: CCJECA, P.O. Box 407, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, postmarked no later than April 15, 2025.
Francis J. Carino Juvenile Justice Scholarship
The Francis J. Carino Juvenile Justice Scholarship was founded by former Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney, Francis J. Carino. The scholarship is intended to help those interested in pursuing the admirable and important work of juvenile justice.

Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university or law school and intend to pursue a career in juvenile justice. The award is contingent on the recipient’s attendance in a program of study at an accredited college, university or law school in the next academic year.
Juvenile Justice includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Law, Legal Studies
- Law Enforcement
- Juvenile & Family Justice
- Corrections, Probation, Parole
- Protective Services
